Re height: His the tallest character in the series XD
Re dub: Yeah his voice sucks. Didn't like his or Maka's (mostly because I adored Maka's seiyuu)
Re hats: For Shinigami couldn't we get a top hat and make a "slipcover' thing that goes over it and add the pointy parts that way?(Dunno if that makes sense, will have to think of another way to describe it....) For the guns; just use cowboy hats then? It'd be hard to find two that at least resemble the shape though.
Re cloak length: She means the heels of your feet Dave. We ain't gonna make you wear heels XD
Also, how are we gonna get the choppy affect of the cloak? Add more layers? That's why I was saying make it a little below waist length so that you get the choppy-ness, but the line of it still continues with black pants.

No, that makes sense to me. (blink) he carries guns? John(my brother in law, for Jackie and Kayla) has an airsoft pistol. I think he may let me borrow it. If there's more than one gun I'm sure one can be gotten off of ebay or something. XDDD...drat, no heels? Black dress pants or black jeans? I own both, and was probably going to bring a pair of black dress pants for the Arakawa cosplay anyway.

No me and Jackie are the guns....that probably makes no sense to someone who hasn't seen the show >.>;
Also airsofts/realistic like guns aren't allowed anyway. They have to be see through now I think.

Found this today at my church's rummage sale: I'm thinking instant cloak. TThere's really only two concerns, the first is the fact that there are stars on the sleeves(and my mother could hem the sleeves or find something to cover them up. Hemming may work better. The other issue is the stars on the front near the hood but if I'm wearing the mask will anyone see them? Will anyone really care?

I doubt anyone will care. need be, just add some extra fabric to cover the stars, if it dangles and looks "jagged" its all the better, since shinigami is jagged looking.
that looks great! we just need the flipping mask and the hands and youre done! lol

depends on how the mask ends up looking. speaking of which, did you get a mask thingy yet? (no rush, just asking)

I will also look for white foam the next time I am at a craft store. The only thing I may hold off on is a top hat. I have been looking at thrift stores and rummage sales and haven't found anything. I may wait until Halloween or after where I can get one at either Walmart or at a Halloween store. Also thinking after so that I can get it really cheap. :-) Next time I see Kai I am going to have her and my mother look at the cloak and see what would need to be done. My mother may be able to do the alternations so it's one less thing you have to worry about.

I meant building the hat into the rest of it. Cause otherwise it'd just look like a cut up top hat.

I was thinking, shoot me down if you don't like it.
buy the top hat, and we can fashion a "slip over" to cover it, making the "boingy" on top (i'm thinking a giant spring may be in order to make it actually "boing"), then it can drape down and Velcro to his shoulders to make it look solid. may not get the sounds desired (that would require some kind of recording I think) but we'd definately get the look we want.
You don't need a welder's mask per say, I saw a plastic face shield on ebay for like, ten bucks. (welders masks were more like, 80$) also, do you know how you're making the mask? otherwise, I got an idea, but it requires a large amount of trust on your part.

I wasn't aware it was suppose to make a noise. I was thinking a pipe cleaner with a slip cover on it. I showed the ebay link to my father and he said "oh yeah you can get those things at True Value. I was thinking(and told Kai this the other day) of buying foam, cutting the holes out and somehow gluing it to the shield. I am open to other ideas. :-)

Yeah that's pretty much exactly what I was talking about, and we may be able to kill two birds with one stone and cover the stars with it. \
I think as long of the thing on top of his head sticks up it'd be fine. Who's gonna even hear the noise at the con? Still not entirely sure a pipe cleaner will be sturdy enough though.
I was thinking just get a slab of foam and I can draw the mask out on it and cut it out. What's the other idea?
