kai, I was digging through patterns. I had bought a coat pattern for when you were going to do Gil (thinking about the scythe made me think about it) All I have to do is not make the sleeves, and you'll have tsubaki.
simplicity 3672
I just gotta swing the direction of the double breasted-ness (easier than pie) and keep the sleeves off. It'll give you a nice tsubaki I think. Her shoes are those hard-bottomed ninja socks things. I'm sure we could put you in a pair of white flipflops with the japanese socks and you'd be fine.

In theory. Whoever does it would be able to sit down and do it in a day probably. like i said, the hardest part would be the collar, for which interfacing works wonders. If you decide to buy it though, you're right, it does save a lot of time and frustration. Totally up to you! Yeah, but is the time and frustration worth paying $90 for something sight unseen? I mean Kai and I were just talking about how it's made up of stuff we already have. Decisions, decisions.

She is right. quite honestly, if you bought a pair of white scrub pants, and a black t-shirt, the whole thing could be made from that (and a few scraps). If it was me..... I'd make it. but i'm a cheapskate.

$15 for Scrub pants it looks like at Working Class in Oak Lawn. The black shirt(I assume solid) can be found at a thrift store, and the boots Kai said I can get at a thrift store. And the costs would come in less or at the most even with the price of shipping ($35). Considering all the cosplays I saw on Ebay came from Hong Kong.

Wait, Black Star has a weapon? And no weapons allowed in Acen?

Oh you're right, I totally forgot about that pattern. I think she actually wears boots though, but if I can't find any anywhere, I'll just do that. Yes, Black Star has a weapon. His weapon is Tsubaki, who I'mma go as, so you don't need one. These are what Tsubaki is: That and a sword. Hella cool, but they should not cost almost $200. I bet I could make 'em for $30.

I just got a wig for $1.08 on Ebay, then add $5.99 for shipping. The wig will have to be styled, but my mother thinks we can use hairspray. I think we can use gel. I also got a $4 Walmart shirt. It's short sleeve. My mother is going to help me with the pants. Jackie, you said you might have buttons? They look like simple clear buttons you can get at Jo-Ann Fabrics otherwise. We are going to find white and gray fabric and make his pants. images.cosplay.com/photos/15/1568457.jpgThe boots, we were going to buy cheap boots and just paint 'em. His tattoo, just use a sharpie XD I'd say the cosplay is about 5% done. By the way it's interesting explaining cosplay to my mother, and to the rest of my family, XD.

*shrug* Most people who don't cosplay don't understand it, so it's generally best to tell them as little as possible. The usually don't understand it even when you explain it to them.
I also usually tell people that Acen is a ' sewing/craftsmanship contest'. Waaaaay easier to explain.
